Cholesterol

Cholesterol is a waxy, fat-like substance found in your body and certain foods. While your body needs cholesterol to build healthy cells, having high levels of cholesterol can increase your risk of heart disease. There are two main types of cholesterol: low-density lipoprotein (LDL) and high-density lipoprotein (HDL). LDL cholesterol is often referred to as “bad” cholesterol because it can build up in the walls of your arteries, leading to atherosclerosis and increasing the risk of heart attack and stroke. On the other hand, HDL cholesterol is known as “good” cholesterol because it helps remove LDL cholesterol from the arteries.

Managing Cholesterol:

Maintain a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins. Limit saturated and trans fats. Regular exercise is key. Consult a healthcare provider for medication if needed.
